Privacy
MyNarwhal is a listen-only marine-radio app, built to collect as little as possible.
- No account, no sign-up, no ads, no tracking. No analytics, cookies, or third-party trackers.
- No device permissions beyond internet. The app doesn't access your location, microphone, contacts, or files. The map shows receivers and ships; it never reads your GPS.
- Stays on your device. Your settings (such as a custom relay address) are stored locally on your device and are not sent to us.
- Sent to our relay. The map area you're currently viewing (a box of latitude/longitude, so we can show ships near that view) and your audio-playback requests. This isn't tied to any identity.
- Server logs. Our relay and our network provider (Cloudflare) may keep standard technical logs — such as IP address and request times — briefly, to operate the service and prevent abuse. These are not used to profile you.
- Third-party content. Audio is streamed from volunteer-run public receivers (KiwiSDR, OpenWebRX, WebSDR) operated by others; ship positions come from aisstream.io; maps from OpenStreetMap and CARTO. Your use of that content is also subject to those operators' terms.
- Children. The app is not directed at children and collects no personal data.
- Changes. Any updates to this statement will be posted on this page.
